Travel Softball FAQs
Travel – 2-3x per Week
We understand the importance of consistent training for skill development. More importantly, we need our families and players to understand the same concept. Our teams’ practices are designed to cover fundamental skills, softball IQ & mental skills, and speed /strength conditioning, often adjusted to meet the weekly needs and demands as each season unfolds. Practice locations are rotated throughout each week and could be located at STJ Field House, STJ Hitting House, or county/ league granted fields.
We use cumulative individual player development data as well as subjective input from our coaching staff while monitoring players’ progress throughout each season. Our coaching staff conducts regular 5-tool assessments (Hit Tool, Power Tool, Throwing Tool, Field Tool, Run Tool) to identify areas for improvement and provide individualized feedback to each player. We believe in fostering growth and helping players reach their best. To accomplish this, we are constantly observing players’ skills, attitude, teamwork, and sportsmanship levels. Open and clear communication from player to coach to family is imperative to the development process and the overall success of the player and our program in the future.
Absolutely! STJ Diamond Sports is designed to provide competitive opportunities for our players to unlock their best. Our Travel teams participate in local, regional, and national tournaments, where players can showcase their skills and compete against top-level competition. However, these opportunities are earned and not a given. Players, Coaches and Families all need to be on the same page with ‘the why’ behind all decisions regarding Showcases or Tournaments.
Player safety is our first priority. We strictly enforce safety protocols and guidelines established across our campus, the league, and various governing bodies. Our coaches are background checked, and we take necessary precautions to minimize the risk of injuries during practices and games.
We understand the importance of balancing academics and sports. STJ Diamond Sports emphasizes the significance of education, and we encourage our players to excel in their studies. We offer academic support resources, such as study halls, time management guidance, and mentoring, to assist players in achieving success on and off the field. In addition to supporting players’ academic pursuits in the classroom we also provide our athletes with Mental Skills and Sport Specific Anatomy classes (typically for players that are 12 years and older). We have established relationships with Orthopedic Specialists, Physical Therapists, Massage Therapists and other professionals with whom we work hand-in-hand when our players become injured.
Beyond our facilities, our program stands out due to our commitment to excellence, our professional coaching staff, and a growing track record of happy families. We prioritize player development, provide competitive opportunities, and offer a supportive and inclusive environment that fosters personal growth and success. Players who want to play and train at STJ are welcome to do so; we have a variety of developmental options that ensure that no players are denied an opportunity to pursue a passion in Baseball or Softball. It is never the team with the most talent that wins, it is the team with the most chemistry. We are on the road to building a winning program that you want to be a part of.
